The One About Conservatives Are Choosing NOW To Worry About The Dignity Of The Office?

(This article originally appeared at The One About...)

Wow! I really do have to give the Conservative Wargarble Army a lot of credit. There is absolutely no boundary whatever to their hypocrisy. For example one of their favorite moves from day one, has been to attack President Obama, or the First Lady and their daughters, for doing things that were damaging to the "dignity" of the office of President of The United States of America.

Bu

t frankly how could anything that Obama does, such as appear in photo ops sans suit jacket and tie, or Michelle being seen to wear Shorts! *gasp* on Air Force One, compare with the enduring legacy that Bush left behind him.
No, surprisingly I'm not talking about torture. I'm talking about Nicknames. Since apparently Bush was not quite bright enough to memorize people's names, or he thought it was cute, or because he knew it was kind of demeaning but loved having the power to do it anyway, Bush will by many of us long be remembered for giving not just his family, and cabinet members, asinine and juvenile nicknames, but even world leaders.

Who can forget such enduring classics as...

Pooty-Poot = Vladimir Putin

Karl RoveImage via Wikipedia

Turd Blossom = Karl Rove
The Cobra = Maureen Dowd

The list goes on and can be found here.

Now on the face of it, I suppose that to many people the whole nickname thing doesn't seem that bad. But if you look at the nicknames, many of them appear to be subtly belittling, or in the case of using Hispanic equivalents for English names, it seems like a phony baloney way to remind people that he was "down" with the Latinos, and in many cases they were just inane. I mean this is the frickin Presidency we're talking about. Of The United States. Not of his local fraternity.

But somehow this just proved that he had not lost touch with the common man (and how can you lose something you never had in the first place I wonder) but Obama in shirt sleeves demonstrates that he's a small timer, in over his head and not ready to be President?

Well like I said, you've really got to give the Republicants credit, they have left no minor detail alone, in their quest to undermine, and malign our current, Duly Elected President.

Oh and since the subject came up, I find it equally amusing that the very same people who were just fine with the courts helping Bush to steal the two thousand Presidential Election, suddenly seem to intensely intent on seeing Obama disqualified based on deeply technical readings of a law that most everyone who isn't wearing a tin foil hat agree he has not violated.

So you stay classy Conservatives.

Keep The Faith My Brothers And Sisters!

Well it is obvious our President, Barach Obama-has great facility with language, has the ability to consider mutiple ideas and concepts, is diplomatic, considerate, measured and dignified.

The dignity of the executive office has not been so well handled or presented since JFK.

President Obama is attractive on many levels and this only brings to light by contrast the deficiency of all that should be presidential by such undignified holders of this office such as Reagan and Bush W.

There is perhaps a great amount of envy that he is a Liberal democrat- and represents the office in such a high minded and dignified way.

Many conservative political leaders seem to lack in grace and charm as well as a fascile and quick witted mind.

The republican candidates just pale in comparison. They actually though Bobby Jendal could be a major candidate- or Palin?

Pence? - no way! I can not think of one appropriate candidate- Romney? Are you kidding?

The only hope they have is to attempt to bring down the beaming light out current president bestows- by attempting to put him in a bad light. They continually fall so short of this it is pathetic.

John,

You're observations are very astute. Which to me makes it all the more saddening that President Obama is apparently choosing to use his gifts in the service of a deadly and damaged status quo.

Well I am willing to wait until the health care bill is done- If there is no ligitimate public option- I will have to agree that he is serving the status -quo.
