The abundant earth and sun
Because human beings are self-aware and utilize the man made apparatus we label consciouness;all constructs that come to mind are fraught with contradiction, hypocracy, errors and can easily be argued for or against with "logical" words and ideas. In accord with this, it is political will and human law that rules the day for most major events throughout the globe.
One can readily arrive at many examples of how to showcase the tenuous nature of just about every belief or "fact" humans have postulated.
For example: Many postulate that oil, the economic fuel that runs the engine of capitalism, is a scare resource. In fact the energy conglomerates would have one believe that oil is so limited we consumers must pay a dear price for its use.
This essay will not discuss the enviromental aspect of this fuel, but instead will focus on how it is manipulated in order to garner huge profit for those in position of ownership and control of oil production.
Although there is nothing new in this essay bringing to mind a clear and simple perspective can guide us to consider many things we take for granted without reflection in order to think differently with a new consideration.
OPEC is simply an acronym to denote "organization of the petroleum exporting countries." In this way, many people are guided to assume that countries and not international corportions are the force behind this economic resource. This kind of reasoning embedded into our consciousness helps to promote xenophobia along with filial piety and patriotic fervor which inturn leads us astray from a more clearer perspective.
Why one may ask does it make any difference if it were publicly stated that it is global corporate entities and not countries as the controling force? Well, if it were widely accepted that major corporate entities having no preference or attachment to any particular country or region were in control of the vast majority of resources and people throughout the world; this could lead toward the average man regardless of region, country or language to begin to unite. To breathe together as one, to con-spire.
This essay should therefore be considered a: breath together idea or a conspiracy theory.
But the main reason for this conspiracy theory is to simply make clear that oil is part of the terra firm. It is deposits in the soil developed as the earth develops and is abundant. To state that oil is scarse, is the same as stating dirt is scarse. If this were universally apprehended, it would be widely accepted that oil should not simply cost less but in all truth the oil companies should be paying us to take it from them. This could obviously cause a great upheveal in global economics if many understood that charging a dear price for oil would be akin to charging people for use of the sun.
However, once these global corporate entities figure out a way to consistently and pervasively charge people for using the sun; as in ( solar panel technology, etc.), this too will be considered a scarse resource that will come at a high price.
So you see that the problem with oil ( for the corporate entities) is not that it is scarse but that it is abundant- the economic law of supply and demand can not tolerate this truth, so it is seen and utilized other than it actually is. Turning things upside down and distorting reality - what a concept?- Did someone mention Lewis Carroll?) The capriciousness of the market where oil is traded of course also plays a role in pricing, however this does not negate the aspect of crude oil being abundantly available.
The way corporate entities manipulate this abundant resource is by controlling the development of refineries. Just as the development of solar panels is and will continued to be controlled.
Anyway, for now, as the Beatles sang: "I'll follow the sun"
